ARTIST'S
STATEMENTAs
a Photographer-Artist I am always trying to capture the moment in time
when the sensational colors of a sunset cannot be described in words.
Or capture the antics of a child, that bring a smile to your face and
a warm glow inside your heart. To capture the image of a sailboat as
it glides through the water by an unseen force. I hope for those
who see my artwork, feel what I am trying to capture on canvas. The
silence, a wisp of the wind as it propels the sailboat, the serene
sound of water that laps upon the shore, the fragrance of a flower
in a garden or be drawn into the peaceful scenes I create ARTIST'S
BIO On
September 11, 2001, I was involved in a life altering vehicle collision. Following
several surgeries, I spent a year in recovery and rehabilitation, most
of the time in bed or in a wheelchair. The long days of boredom and
pain I endured in the nursing home were spent rediscovering the beauty
of small miracles. Flower arrangements brought to the home became
the object of fascination and inspired me to use my camera to capture
the micro world within a flower bud. Countless visits to the Mayo Clinic
introduced me to the flower creations of Georgia O'Keefe and the possibilities
for my inner artist. Following college I worked in hotel management
and the food and beverage service industry for 25 years. During vacations
I visited galleries and museums from St. Paul, MN, to Washington, D.C.
I studied art and photography at the University of Wisconsin - River
Falls and moved into digital photography by researching and studying
other digital photographers.My
work has been shown at the Anderson Center of Interdisciplinary Studies
and the Red Wing Arts Association "The Depot Gallery", Red Wing, MN,
the Phipps Center, in Hudson, WI, the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse,
Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota, MN, The Central Wisconsin Cultural
Center - Wisconsin Rapids, WI, The Kelley Gallery in Hudson,
WI and the Abode in Stockholm, WI. I won a Purchase Award at
the Art Fair on the Green in La Crosse, in 2004. I also received the
1st place award for my photograph of a Steamboat, in the 2004 The Grand
Excursion Exhibit – sponsored by ArtReach of Red Wing, MN. In
March 2007 I received an award from the Altrusa International Club
of Oshkosh, WI, a show-event held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Oshkosh. You
will also find my work displayed in Galleries in Door County, WI as
well as other Galleries throughout WI and MN. This year, The Red Wing,
MN Visitors and Convention Bureau has my photographs on the cover of
their 2007 Visitors Guide. Respectfully, Theodore
